Well as many of you that have been with me for a while will know, back in February this year I decided that it would be a good idea to say that I would run the Race for Life with Pippa while I was, well let’s just say not completely of sound mind.
After the fuzzy head cleared the morning after, it hit me that I have never run anyway let alone over a distance, I literally mean anywhere… Not for a bus, not to get out of the rain… nothing.
Realising that I was going to actually be taking part, I thought that I better get Pippa to at least get me through this and take me running with her so that I could at least get to the point that I could have a go at running the full distance, it’s for a good cause after all.
Well what a few months I have had, going out spends have been repurposed and I now own two pairs of running shoes, something that if you would have ever offered me completely free a year ago, I would have declined with a stern look on my face.
Not anymore, I have two pairs of running shoes and more fitness clothing than I have seen being sold on the high street which came about as I realised that running in normal leggings and fashion trainers was really not the best idea, as my poor little feet suffered week in, week out.
Although the constant going out has been sidelined for the minute, I have to admit that I do feel great about myself although I can safely say that I haven’t been bitten by the running bug so once I get the Race for Life out of the way, things are going to be certainly a lot easier on my tired legs!
Anyway, with the run not too far away now I thought that I would give myself a little present for sticking to my involvement and have ordered myself a custom-made pair of running trainers from the Nike Store.
Not exactly cheap, they are definitely up for the task of helping to carry me across the line and that is all that I am bothered about as I’m certainly not going to be leading the pack like some sort of Olympic runner.
I have decided that I like the look of the LunarEpic Low Flyknit 2’s that are meant to be designed for running and claim to offer me support in all of the right places (that reminds me I need to get a good sports bra, any suggestions guys?) but hopefully they should be here this week.
I have gone with a pink and white colour so that I can at least wear them this summer after the run but with the race getting ever closer, I’m looking forward to being able to hang them up for the running aspect anyway!
If you haven’t sponsored me already, give me a shout and I will give you my JustGiving page link, it only takes a couple of minutes and makes all of this worth it, like my friend who runs free-games.net did earlier this week.
